Phonics/Spelling

Today we will be learning  the alternative spelling patterns for the /w/ sound.

e.g. /w/ as in cobweb;  /wh/ as in which;  /u/ as in penguin;

Complete the alternative spelling pattern sheet for /w/

Ask an adult to read the instructions to you (see below and the sheet).

1) underline all the different spellings for long /w/ sound in the word list.

Practise reading all the words in the lists (sound out and blend) to yourself first. Then read them to an adult - tick the ones you read correctly.

2) Underline all the different spellings for /w/ sound in the passage (text) . Then read the text. 

3) In the last box, write a sentence using a word/words from the lists and draw a picture to go with it (illustrate it). 

Challenge: 

Choose a word from each list and write a sentence for each one.

Remember to use joined/best handwriting, a capital letter at the beginning of your sentence, word spaces and a full stop at the end of your sentence.

 

English

T: To tell a recycled story.

In this lesson we will memorise our very own story by mapping, stepping and speaking.

Watch the video and complete the activities within.

Reading

T: To retrieve information from a story.

Stick Man is lost. Stick Man needs a map to help him find his way home. Can you draw him a map to help him?

Listen to the story again and complete the story map.

Support – draw pictures and label.

Challenge – Use the map to write a paragraph detailing his journey home.

 

Maths

T: Lines of symmetry

Complete the Flashback card and watch the video below:

 

 

 

After you have watched the video, complete the questions on the sheet below.

Support: Focus on questions 1 - 3.  For question 1, draw on the vertical lines of symmetry.

Challenge - Have a go at the T/F question.

 

RE

T: Lent is a time of forgiveness.

Watch the video about Lent and Ash Wednesday.

Write about a time in your life when you might have needed forgiveness and said sorry, so that you could become more like Jesus.

Support: Draw a picture and write a sentence about this time

Challenge: Think/write about how this helped you to become more like Jesus.

 

ICT

T - To know the meaning of key internet words.

As part of our new topic, Effective Searching you will complete a quiz about the words we use when searching the internet.

There is a PowerPoint to read or you can listen to it on Teams.
