Next Generation Learning Charter Spring 2010
St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School has been awarded a recognition certificate to mark the progress it has made within the Next Generation Learning Charter, towards gaining full ICT Mark status, the national standard indicating excellent use of ICT in learning and school management.
The certificate recognises the efforts and good progress the school has maden on its journey to gaining the full ICT Mark.
The Next Generation Learning Charter was launched by Becta, the government’s agency for technology in education, to help improve the strategic and effective use of technology in schools across the country.
This recognition certificate means St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School is already leading the way and committed to improving learning for pupils through the use of technology (including computers and laptops) in lessons.
There is strong evidence to show that when technology is used effectively in schools, it can help to motivate and excite pupils, and raise attainment.
Mike Briscoe, Director of Institutions, Leadership and Safeguarding at Becta, said: "Not only is St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School committed to using ICT across all school activities to benefit and enhance pupils’ learning but this certificate recognises that they are always looking to improve what they are doing. The Next Generation Learning Charter recognises schools like St Francis Xavier that make the best use of ICT in a structured and more strategic way. I hope they will continue to benefit from Becta’s guidance and advice in their journey to the full ICT mark."
Mr Dickinson, Assistant Head teacher said, "We are delighted to have been recognised for our progress towards ICT excellence. It is a brilliant way for us to show pupils, parents and the wider community that we are committed to using ICT in the best way we can. We are committed to continuing to improve our use of ICT in order to achieve full ICT Mark accreditation."
Link2Learn International School Award 2009
International school partnerships are a powerful way to enrich the learning and development of young people.
They give students an invaluable international perspective and inspire them to reach new goals.
To celebrate excellence and innovation in international school partnerships, Link2Learn allowed entrants to submit a series of descriptions of their international school partnership work.
We were delighted that Mr Hinton and St Francis Xavier won the 'International Co-ordinator' award which was presented at the award ceremony in London on 16 October 2009.
International School Award
In 2007 St Francis Xavier
was successfully accredited with the International School Award. Our school is therefore accredited from 1
September 2007 to 1 September 2010.
Our International School Award trophy was presented at a national presentation event in central London
at The Brewery conference centre on Wednesday 10 October 2007.
Tipton Litter Watch Award
In 2005 our school was awarded the prestigious 'Tipton Litter Watch'.
It was decided that we were the tidiest school in Sandwell.
Pupils are keen to keep our school clean and tidy,
in
particular the 'Green
Team', run by Mrs Tucker who work hard to care for the school and its environment.
